Nexo adds 0% credit lines for Solana and XRP holders

Nexo Introduces 0% APR Credit to Solana and XRP Holders

Nexo has broadened its Zero-interest Credit offering to include Solana’s SOL and Ripple’s XRP, providing holders with the opportunity to access dollar liquidity without the need to liquidate their cryptocurrencies.

Expansion of Zero-interest Credit Product

This new initiative allows Nexo to offer loans with a 0% APR and no liquidation risks, following a significant achievement of over $170 million in zero-interest loans. The company has also been recognized for its innovative lending practices, having received a prestigious award for “Consumer Lending Product of the Year” at the 2026 FinTech Breakthrough Awards. The timing of this expansion coincides with a resurgence in DeFi total value locked (TVL), highlighting a growing interest in crypto-backed lending solutions within both decentralized finance and traditional financial markets.

Nexo’s Unique Borrowing Option

Nexo is now the first major platform to enable users to secure 0% APR loans using SOL and XRP as collateral, in addition to its existing support for Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company describes its Zero-interest Credit (ZiC) as a borrowing tool that allows users to “borrow against your BTC, ETH, SOL, or XRP at zero interest and zero fees.” This offering gives clients access to dollar-denominated liquidity while allowing them to retain their crypto holdings and avoid margin calls during the loan period.

Performance and Market Strategy

Since its inception, the Zero-interest Credit product has successfully generated over $170 million in loan volume, boasting a 66% renewal rate among borrowers. Nexo reports that a significant portion of these loans remains within its platform, indicating that users are utilizing the funds to reallocate investments rather than exiting the crypto market altogether. According to Elitsa Taskova, Nexo’s Chief Product Officer, the firm aims to stay ahead of market trends, asserting that expanding Zero-interest Credit to include Solana and Ripple is a strategic move to set a new benchmark for crypto lending.

Loan Structure and Conditions

The updated Zero-interest Credit product features a 0% APR at a 30% loan-to-value (LTV) ratio for both SOL and XRP, with minimum collateral requirements set at 100 SOL or 5,000 XRP. In comparison, the standard ZiC term sheet specifies minimum loan amounts based on 50% of the USD equivalent of 0.1 BTC or 1 ETH, with an individual loan limit of $5 million.

Recognition and Impact on Digital Lending

Nexo first launched the Zero-interest Credit option in January, presenting it as a fixed-term alternative to existing credit lines. It was designed to provide liquidity for Bitcoin and Ethereum holders at 0% interest, without the risk of early liquidation. This product has already facilitated more than $140 million in liquidity through private and over-the-counter channels. The accolade received at the FinTech Breakthrough Awards reflects Nexo’s commitment to transforming digital asset lending by eliminating mid-term liquidations and clarifying repayment terms from the outset.

Trends in Crypto-backed Lending

This move by Nexo is part of a larger trend in the DeFi space, where there has been substantial growth in crypto-backed lending platforms. Recent data indicated that the total value locked in DeFi surged to $134.7 billion, and the overall crypto market cap surpassed $3.7 trillion. This surge highlights the increasing demand for yield, leverage, and structured credit products across various blockchain platforms.

Client Focus and Market Positioning

Nexo’s Zero-interest Credit is tailored for clients seeking liquidity while maintaining their long-term investments. This includes high-net-worth individuals who wish to defer tax liabilities and active traders looking for market opportunities with defined risk profiles. This positioning aligns with the notable rise in structured DeFi offerings and cross-chain borrowing capabilities, catering to a growing audience of crypto investors.
