DP World Tour and Nexo Launch Course Record Prize Fund
The DP World Tour, in partnership with Nexo, has unveiled a new prize initiative known as the Course Record, set to debut at the upcoming championship in Aberdeen from August 7 to 10, 2025. This innovative prize fund starts with a base amount of $10,000, which will carry over to the next tournament if it is not claimed.
Details of the Course Record Initiative
Today, the DP World Tour announced its performance-oriented award system, the Course Record, in collaboration with Nexo. The initiative will kick off tomorrow, August 7, through August 10 in Aberdeen, Scotland, at the Trump International Golf Links, a venue officially opened by President Donald Trump along with Nexo’s co-founders on July 29. According to Nexo, a firm specializing in digital asset management, the Course Record will award $10,000 to players who achieve the top scores throughout the event. Additionally, players who break existing course records will earn an extra $50,000 in Nexo tokens during the championship.
Conditions and Trophy Details
Nexo specified that the Course Record prize will only be awarded if a new record is set. If no records are broken, the prize will be carried over to the next qualifying tournament, increasing by $10,000 each time. This prize is exclusively available to tournament participants and requires at least 36 holes to be played in case of weather disruptions. The champion of the tournament will receive the Nexo Championship Trophy, a unique piece crafted by local artisans Jamieson & Carry, symbolizing Scottish heritage and craftsmanship. Previous records include ten set in 2024 and six in 2025.
Nexo’s Vision for Innovation in Golf
Antoni Trenchev, Co-Founder of Nexo, described the Course Record prize as a distinctive annual award that integrates performance incentives for athletes with innovations in digital assets. This initiative aligns with the shared vision of the DP World Tour and Nexo to push for advancements in professional golf. Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer at the DP World Tour, emphasized that the prize aims to recognize outstanding performances while increasing visibility for the sport. He expressed gratitude to Nexo for their support and extended good luck wishes to all competitors.
Economic Impact of the Nexo Golf Championship
The golf course was inaugurated on July 29 during a celebratory event attended by President Trump and Nexo’s co-founders. The organizing committee anticipates that the tournament will provide significant economic benefits to Aberdeen through tourism and the golf season, which reportedly contributes over $400 million to Scotland’s economy each year. The Golf Course Record initiative will be active until the conclusion of the DP World Tour Championship season, with plans to resume in 2026.
Support for Crypto Innovation in America
Recently, Nexo was designated as the Official Marketing Partner and Official Digital Wealth Platform of the DP World Tour for a term lasting until 2027. Additionally, a working group based in the U.S. has put forth a national vision for embracing cryptocurrency, viewing it as the next significant technological advancement in American history. The group draws parallels between past innovations such as the railroad and the internet, highlighting the transformative potential of blockchain technology. They have recognized the role of American entrepreneurs in fostering these advancements and advocated for the integration of digital assets to reshape ownership and governance within the economy.
The working group also acknowledged President Trump as the first U.S. president to publicly support the cryptocurrency movement. They are urging the federal government to facilitate progress in realizing Trump’s vision of establishing America as a global leader in cryptocurrency by promoting innovative policies related to digital assets and blockchain technology.
